Two west Londoners are renewing their wedding vows in Chiswick after a decade of marriage.

Oluyomi Asabi Apampa was born in Croydon, London in the early 70s. Olatunbosun Omotunwashe Abolarinwa was born around the same time in Lagos, Nigeria.

A teenager who helped a man bleeding from a life-threatening knife wound was praised at a police commendation ceremony.

The counter-offensive has begun. Armed with unity and good vibes, scores of Shepherd's Bush residents turned out to try and save Ginglik on Saturday.


As it stands, the seven-year-old cultural centre and club is due to be filled with concrete by H&F Council, which says it cannot justify spending taxpayers' money on refitting the venue.

The ageing underground structure - which was once an Edwardian toilet - is now prone to flooding and the estimated £300,000 to fix it has been shrugged off by the council, in favour of spending an estimated £50,000 to fill it with concrete.

Fulham kitty turns foxy

fox.jpgA Fulham woman was shocked to find her kitten in hot pursuit of a fox.

Grandmother Joan Caruana, 73, of Burnthwaite Road, has been worried for over a year about the den of foxes which have taken up residence at the corner of her road near the scout hut.

After her husband Carl died on December 12 last year, her children gave her a black kitten to keep her company, but she started to worry for its safety after seeing the foxes on the prowl.


Council call centre workers have been told they will have to move to Manchester if they want to keep their jobs.

A cloud of uncertainty hangs over the futures of 15 staff of the contact centre based at the Hammersmith town hall, which the council intends to operate from Rochdale in order to save £150,000 per year.

The council's IT services are currently run by contractor Agilisys from its business centre at Rochdale, and under the plans the company will also run the contact centre there from January next year.

Hammersmith Hospital will have one of the biggest cardiovascular facilities in Europe with the construction of a new £100m research facility.

The flagship project promises to deliver research from the laboratory straight to the patient's bedside quicker than ever before.

The sites of the L and J blocks of the hospital in Du Cane Road, will be cleared for a new six-storey building which will comprise a three-storey cardiovascular research facility, a high tech imaging unit and the Medical Research Council's genomics centre, which will study common diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, obesity and heart disease.

Life for savage niece

A woman who stabbed her sex-abusing Uncle more than 100 times in an "unbelievably savage" killing has been given a life sentence.

Maria Calero, 22, of Hammersmith, murdered Eduardo Mendoza, 49, three days after telling police she had wounding him in the back.

She was told by police to return three days later for an interview, but shortly after she stabbed her uncle 111 times while her brother filmed the frenzied attack on a mobile phone.

Police swoop crackhouse

Police swooped on a crack house in Shepherd's Bush and arrested 13 people for a range of crimes.

The property in Aldine Court was raided early in the morning and subsequently boarded up following a three month closure order by the West London Magistrates' Court.

It led to the arrest of 13 people for Grievous Bodily Harm, possession of Class A drugs and fraud.

Fulham footballer honoured

Fulham Football Club is hoping to unveil a statue of the player known as the 'Maestro' by their ground.

The memorial to legend Johnny Haynes, who died three years ago, will be built outside Craven Cottage in Stevenage Road, Fulham, if Hammersmith and Fulham Council grant planning permission.
