A five-a-side football tournament brought out the best behaviour of Fulham children yesterday.

The free Il Pagliaccio Cup was held at South Park, Fulham, for six-to-fifteen-year-olds this week.

Health service survey

Have your say in a survey for patients of Hammersmith and Fulham's NHS services.

Between November 10-15 everyone who uses the services will be asked to fill in a questionnaire.



Letter from Roy Telfer:

"I was born in Fulham in 1929 and lived in Pownal Place, which was originally called Pownall Road. The road was off Lillie Road where, I believe, a number of high-rise flats have been constructed.

"Pownal Place was flattened by a high explosive bomb in late 1944. Unfortunately most of our family records were destroyed.

Hotel and lap dancing club meeting

A public meeting about a proposed lap dancing club and a Hammersmith hotel will be held on Thursday.

Acton, Ealing and Shepherd's Bush MP Andy Slaughter MP has organised the meeting above the Hand and Flower in Hammersmith Road, Hammersmith.

Remembrance parades

Two ceremonies to mark Remembrance Day will be held in Hammersmith and Fulham on November 9.

In Fulham, a procession will gather in Parsons Green Lane at 10.20am and march via New Kings Road to the Fulham War Memorial, in Vicarage Garden, next to All Saints Church, Putney Bridge Approach.

A mystery international pop star will be the main draw at Westfield's grand opening on Thursday, October 31, with a performance and fashion show at 11am.

X Factor judge Dannii Minogue and model Paul Sculfor will also be there to open the Next store at 9.30am and a goody bag will go to the first 100 paying customers.

Doors to the shopping centre open to the public at 9am before London Mayor Boris Johnson officially opens the centre at 10.30am.

Obesity costs soar

Obesity cost borough health bosses £53.4 million last year and the figure is set to soar as thousands of people over eat and exercise less.

Figures released by the Department of Health predict that by 2015 the estimated cost of treating obesity-related disease at Hammersmith and Fulham Primary Care Trust (PCT) will be £59.2m.

Currently 15 per cent of adults and 25 per cent of children in the borough are obese and experts are certain the number will expand as we become an increasingly fat society.

Frank Banfield park open

The widow of a former Mayor has praised a refurbished park named in honour of her husband despite some residents' calling its new look 'hideous.'

The Frank Banfield Park was officially opened after nine months of work and an £800,000 deal between the council and Goodman, the developer of the adjacent Embankment scheme.

Residents previously complained that the transformation of the park was painfully slow and would not deter stubborn street drinkers, even with all the new CCTV equipment.

Anti-knife campaign in Fulham school

A hard hitting anti-knife campaign featuring the best friend of murdered Kojo Yenga was launched at Henry Compton School in Fulham today.

Speaking by a coffin, Bilal Ayonote told shocked 15 and 16-year-old pupils how he felt when his friend was knifed to death.
