Mystery international star to open Westfield
A mystery international pop star will be the main draw at Westfield's grand opening on Thursday, October 31, with a performance and fashion show at 11am.
X Factor judge Dannii Minogue and model Paul Sculfor will also be there to open the Next store at 9.30am and a goody bag will go to the first 100 paying customers.
Doors to the shopping centre open to the public at 9am before London Mayor Boris Johnson officially opens the centre at 10.30am.
Invdividual retailers will also hold their own launch celebrations, with some giving away special offers.
No one has been able to predict how many people will visit the centre on the first day, but Westfield, the council and police are putting contingency plans in place to deal with heavy crowds.
The council has promised that Wood Lane, which is currently allowing only one-way traffic, will operate in both directions by the time of the opening.
The centre will go straight into Christmas trading hours, from 9am to 10pm but regular trading throughout the year will finish at 9pm. Closing hours may change once the cinema opens.
