Call centre move protests
Plans to move Hammersmith and Fulham Council's call centre to Rochdale have been slated.
The borough says shifting the telephone switchboard 160 miles north early next year, will save 150,000 annually and improve the service.
Staff are opposed to the move and on Wednesday they protested outside the town hall in King Street, Hammersmith.
John Bryant is registered blind and has worked as a borough switchboard operator for more than 30 years.
The 53-year-old said: "When the council told us what it was doing, I was absolutely gobsmacked." Staff plan another protest this week.

Protest in the call center is something very rare to hear. If the staff are protesting then there must be some valid reason. I hope this call center will surely use the middle way to satisfy the staff and get the benefit.
