Circus artistes come through with coloured flags flying
Adventurous young members of a Hammersmith-based circus school passed their achievement certificates with flying colours, writes Robert Szmigielski.
The awards were presented to five youngsters and the artistic director of Albert & Friends Instant Circus at the Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards at London's Mermaid Conference & Events Centre.
The circus, which is celebrating it's 25th year, teaches circus skills such as juggling and stilt walking to youngsters, and has over 300 members.
One of the winners, 12-year-old Cornelius Atkinson(CORR) said: "Learning circus skills is great fun, but you have to have a strong sense of adventure. Some of the skills require you to be quite brave, but I love learning new routines."
The Achievement Awards winners were honoured by England rugby international James Haskell, and received a medallion and a £300 cheque to go with their framed certificate.
