Classic barbers open for business
The sons of a Fulham barber who died last year have today reopened the original family salon in a tribute to their dad.
Dino Constanti owned men's hairdressing salon 'Dino's' in Cassidy Road, Fulham, from 1958 to 1976. It closed down when he moved to a bigger shop in Jerdan Place, Fulham, where a branch still stands today.
Mr Constanti, who cut the hair of many famous pop stars, tragically died of cancer in February last year. But when his sons Nick, 45, and Andy, 46, heard the original shop had become vacant again they decided to restore the Cassidy Road shop to its former glory - more than 30 years after the doors closed.
Nick Constanti said: "He was an established Fulham hairdresser for nearly 50 years, so everyone around here knew him. My father was a great man who always had a smile on his face, he was friendly with everyone who came into the shop. My brother and I couldn't remember exactly how the inside of the shop looked before it closed down, but we've given it quite a modern look."
Other stars that popped in for a trim included members of 1980s band Bros, the lead singer of 1990s pop group Blur, Damon Albarn, and the chief executive of Chelsea football club Peter Kenyon.
