Sophie visits veteran's cafe
Former homeless veterans met the Countess of Wessex today when she visited a Fulham project aimed at getting them back into work .
The Countess met John Khristian and Dave Clark at the Pryors Bank Cafe in Bishops' Park by Putney Bridge, where they are learning restaurant skills.
The cafe is run by the Beef Kitchen Company as a social enterprise on behalf of the Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation, a charity which has been looking after vulnerable and disabled veterans since 1915.
Mr Khristian, 48, joined the Four Kings Own Royal Border regiment in 1979 and served in England for six years before leaving the army.
After spending years living rough, Mr Khristian eventually found his way to the project at Pryors Bank Cafe, where he is currently taking NVQ qualifications and learning how to become a chef.
"I would like to train to sous chef level so my main aim is to get those qualifications but one day I would like my own cafe," he said.
