Fun day in Fulham park

There will be a fun day at South Park, off Peterborough Road, on Saturday.

The celebration is part of a bid by Hammersmith and Fulham Council to win 400,000 from the London mayor to restore the park.

Tesco store denied

Traders in a popular shopping area have won a campaign to keep the supermarket giant Tesco out of their street.

Plans to redevelop a site in Munster Road and make way for a Tesco Express supermarket with two floors of office space were denied by Hammersmith and Fulham Council on October 28.

The firm also wanted to build an additional single-storey office and a separate two-storey, three-bedroom house on the site.

Agreement has finally been reached to build railings along a treacherous Fulham riverside wall.

The 10-inch high flood defence barrier, off Holyport Road in Fulham, has been the scene of several incidents where residents have fallen over the parapet, plummeting more than 11 feet to the riverbank.

Call centre move protests

Posted by Tom Shaw on Nov 3, 08 05:02 PM in Local Authority

Plans to move Hammersmith and Fulham Council's call centre to Rochdale have been slated.

The borough says shifting the telephone switchboard 160 miles north early next year, will save 150,000 annually and improve the service.

Council call centre workers have been told they will have to move to Manchester if they want to keep their jobs.

A cloud of uncertainty hangs over the futures of 15 staff of the contact centre based at the Hammersmith town hall, which the council intends to operate from Rochdale in order to save £150,000 per year.

The council's IT services are currently run by contractor Agilisys from its business centre at Rochdale, and under the plans the company will also run the contact centre there from January next year.

Residents in White City are to get a new health centre and 70 affordable homes, despite efforts to prevent the scheme going ahead.

A decision to grant planning permission for the development in Bloemfontein Road, W12, was made by Hammersmith and Fulham Council in July after extensive consultation.

A networking event is being staged this week by the council to encourage people to hold their conferences, parties and other events in the borough.
